Jinx: The Definitive CollectionFIRST TIME IN HARDCOVER POWERS Co Creator Bendis Brings Back His EISNER Award Winning Crime Comic Classic In An All New Collection A Female Bounty Hunter, A Handsome Small Time Grifter, And His Swarmy Partner Search For A Hidden Treasure That Takes Them On A Winding Trail Through The Seedy Underbelly Of Cleveland It Is A Treasure That Is A Ticket Out Of The City And Out Of The Life The Treasure Hunt Propels This Character Driven Film Noir Loosely Based On The Western Classic THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY If You Are A Fan Of Bendis Work On POWERS, AVENGERS, ULTIMATE SPIDERMAN Or SCARLET, You Will Love This Book A Must Have For Your Comics Library I gave it a go This waspretty terrible not my thing despite it being bendis and i usually also quite like this genre No rating ad dont rate dnfs Dnf 40% I was hoping I d be into this than I was, considering how much I love crime novels and noir and comic books, but I just couldn t quite get into it I feel like some graphic novels really try too hard to be cinematic, to the point that you d rather watch the movie of it than actually read it This is definitely the case with Jinx, which isn t badly written per se, but the stark black and white silhouetted drawing style made it hard to figure out what was even going on in a lot of the action sequences Frank Miller uses stark black and white with great stylistic flourish Here, it just starts to get in its own way I couldn t help longing for simple outline drawings of the characters where I could actually see their expressions and actions. I picked this up at a book signing by Bendis last week I haven t read it in years and years, and I ve read so much of Bendis since that time, I wasn t sure how this would hold up.As indie comics go, this is a winner It s amazing how much of Bendis talent for dialogue was already there in the beginning, and how well he tuned into that talent and focused on it I m also impressed by the art renderings I totally forgot that Bendis used to do the art for his books, and I would ve encouraged him to keep up this side of it there s much worse from non writing artists out there, believe me , had his career not taken off so much as a writer. The story is pretty thin just a few set pieces in which to let his characters breathe but there s three books worth of plot after this too, so it s hard to judge the full merits of this fraction of the story arc and I don t remember the rest of the storyline so I won t embarrass myself by guessing at it.Most of all, this reminds me why I like Bendis work so much he tunes in closely to how people act around each other, and what happens when unusually unlike personalities synthesize into something unlike either of them. Bendis en su mejor faceta la de los di logos inteligentes y los personajes abatidos Una joyita.
