Tortoise wants to say goodbye to the animals in the zoo before he sets off on an adventure But there are so many animals, saying goodbye is an adventure in itself The final spread brings the story together I won t spoil the ending here, though you may have guessed already. This humorous rhyming picture book lends itself to the younger reader as they know what is coming with the simple but clever alternative ways of saying goodbye.See my full review with pictures here.

A cute and simple to read rhyming story about a tortoise who spends his days saying goodbye to all of his zoo park friends on his way to go on an adventure outside of the park He never makes it to the the park exit though because he takes too much time seeing all of his friends before he leaves This is a great read aloud book where the familiar animal illustrations are the real winners My 3 year old daughter especially loves it when the tortoise calls the rhino a unicorn she thinks it s hilarious Each page, besides the first and the last, only has one sentence phrase written on it, so it s great for parents who don t especially love reading aloud.

What a cute story this one is Imagine a cute little tortoise and the largest Zoo you ve ever been in The adorable little tortoise is heading out to explore the world He has his camera, sleeping bag, knapsack packed and he is ready for an adventure However, he can t possibly leave without saying goodbye to his friends Each AND Every Single One This reminded me of trying to get my kids to say their prayers at night When we would get to the and God Bless, Mommy God Bless, Daddy I would be gritting my teeth when were blessing the family that lived on the corner 3 years ago I think it s bad if you growl at your kids while they are blessing people though right So, as I was saying, the tortoise goes around to say his goodbyes in sing song goodbyes like See you later, Alligator I ll be a while crocodile Each of the cute sayings has a colorfully, fun illustration to match The five year old cracked up when we got to I ll call you soon, Mr Raccoon Mostly because Mr Raccoon is carrying a bright red purse and a cell phone These are the little touches throughout the book that makes you want to read it over and over again because it really wasn t until the third or fourth reading that we even noticed the cellphone in Mr Raccoons hand. The illustrations are cute and detailed. Now, I won t tell you about the last couple of pages but they will make you laugh I promise.

This book is like a fantastic crescendo of silliness You start at a zoo where tortoise has packed up his things and decided to go on an adventure Being the kind tortoise that he is, first he must diligently say farewell to all the other animals When increasingly silly rhymes, including a confused rhino who is mistaken for a unicorn, tortoise trudges around the whole zoo The true laughter erupts when you realize that not only has he taken to long to leave now, but that he ll be back again tomorrow to say his see you laters just as he was the day before A perfect tale for enlisting young animal lovers in a fit of giggles.
